| ONLINE ADVERTISING – AN INTRODUCTION The internet has taken the advertising industry by storm, quickly becoming one of the top five of the largest advertising mediums. It is more popular than cinema, radio, consumer and business magazines and outdoor advertising. It is on its way to overtake newspaper advertising which is currently worth around £1.9bn in the UK. Internet advertising continues to grow faster than any other advertising medium. This is due to more people connecting to the internet. BT (N.I.) figures show that 75% of Northern Ireland population have internet access at work and 55% of households have internet access. Internet adverting has many positives and proves to be an effective way to communicate. The diagram below shows the various strengths and benefits of Internet Advertising.
